Students are in the middle of creating self-portraits using value and utilizing a grid to maintain proportion. Their focus is on meticulously drawing only what they see, finding the underlying structure, and being willing to continually re-work features in their drawings. 5th Grade artists have been diligently drawing, carving, and pulling an edition of linoleum block prints. It’s been a busy, challenging, and fun project! Next, students will learn the Japanese stab-binding technique, and will soon be heading home with a hand-sewn book of prints – a unique design from each 5th grade student!
