Making Paper

Using a week’s worth of scrap paper (that otherwise would have been discarded into recycle bins around SGS) and organic matter such as dried leaves and flower petals from our garden, 5th grade artists are making their own paper!  The room was abuzz with the sound of blenders whirring and exclamations about the texture of the mushy pulp.  One student asked at the end of the session, “Can we please make paper for the rest of the school year?” showing that there are many positive benefits to doing our own creative method of recycling paper.  Trays of paper are currently drying in the art studio and will be revealed next week!
